Hi! My name is LaToya. I enjoy helping people recognize their potential along with their intrinsic ability to make changes to reach desired results. Coaching allows me to assist you mentally, physically, and spiritually while setting and accomplishing goals. Everyone is different and has unique qualities, so individual developmental plans will help with taking steps towards achieving goals, maintaining healthy lifestyles, improving emotional well-being, managing chronic conditions, developing social skills, career changes or stress, and more.
I currently live in Texas, but I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. I grew up in a poverty-stricken and crime-prone area. I lost my father at the age of 10, and it was sad but I grieved by staying busy and visiting family more. I started working at the age of 12 years old because I wanted to provide for myself and help my disabled mother. Years later, Hurricane Katrina caused many family members to be displaced, but I did not allow the storm to break me. I saw how people were affected after the storm mentally, physically, financially and emotionally. My journey to work, help, assist, care, and console others began.
I have had the opportunity to work as a mentor, life coach, mental health professional, and provide therapy groups. I started off volunteering and providing help to people in need, but as I listen and analyzed their stories, I felt enjoyment when finding solutions to help them. I realized that I wanted to work in psychology, so I started working in a behavioral health hospital for 8 years. After working in the hospital, I started working for nonprofit mental health organizations that allowed me to help people in the community, schools and in their homes. After experiencing mental health within the community, I started coaching individuals to make sure they develop and maintain healthy habits to help live a healthier, happier and even more satisfying life.
I have my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, and my Doctorate of Philosophy for Psychology. My dissertation was on “Perceived Quality of Care and Burnout in Psychiatric Caregivers Working with Offenders.” During my free time, I like to write poetry and books, travel, cook, read, spend time with family, watch movies and promote businesses.
